This page describes YUNGBLUD's full career, including songs written before becoming YUNGBLUD. Eras are categorised by albums and EP's, singles released not on albums will be listed under the era it was released within. For example "Loner" is a single released not on an album, however it was released during the 21st Cdentury Liability era, so it can be found under that heading. A discography table can be found here.
Before becoming YUNGBLUD[]
Finding a way into the industry[]
At the start of his career. he went by his birth name—Dominic Harrison—and was trying to make it in the industry, he met a management company and wrote songs with them. He threw away what he wanted to do and who he wanted to be and tried to conform to the music industry by making songs he didn't want to make. He didn't release any songs with them. He made Pop songs and sang with an American accent instead of his own Northern English accent. He made songs such as "Miss Those Days" and after someone suggested that he go on The Voice and get signed from there, he became tired of doing things he didn't want to and threw it away. He carried on performing at shows.
Meeting his managers[]
He later met another manager at a show he was playing at, after he was done playing they went for a drink and the manager brought his business partners along; Declan Morrell and Tommas Arnby. They got him a session with Mati Schwartz but Schwartz criticised him for writing bad songs and refused to carry on with him. After being criticised, he had a turning point, which he labels "The Month", where he wrote a bunch of poetry and designed a brand for himself—YUNGBLUD (being that he was called "young blood" due to being the youngest artist on their roster). He brought the songs and brand to Morrell, who got him another session with Schwartz. Morrell informed Schwartz that he would see another side of Harrison. Schwartz agreed and having seen the changes, accepted him.
YUNGBLUD[]

He signed to Locomotion Entertainment in 2017, which automatically signed him to Geffen Records (the parent company), with the master label of Geffen being Interscope Records and Interscope's parent company being Universal Music Group. Harrison performed with his band at The Crowndale for Camden Rocks Festival.[1] He, along with his producers, created "King Charles", "I Love You, Will You Marry Me" and "Tin Pan Boy" in 2017 and in 2018: "Polygraph Eyes" as the starter songs, and they were pushed out as singles. On 19 January 2018, YUNGBLUD released his debut extended play.
21st Century Liability (2018 - 2019)[]
21st Century Liability cover art.
In early 2018, he pushed out singles such as "Anarchist", "21st Century Liability" and "Psychotic Kids" and "California". During the singles push out, in April 2018, he got two black heart tattoos. One was on the left middle finger and the other was broken on his right middle finger. He stated that one left was when he figured out who he was and the broken one on his right was before he figured out who he was, and that the reason the full heart is on the left is that he is left-handed. While he was writing for his debut album 21st Century Liability, he wrote a song called "Falling Skies", American singer Charlotte Lawrence was then added to the song as a feature. Later, he decided he wasn't sure if he wanted it. People who were creating the soundtrack to the second season of 13 Reasons Why were told about the song, and they asked for it to be added to the soundtrack, which he agreed to. His single "Tin Pan Boy" was also added to the soundtrack; "Falling Skies" gave him a little more exposure. He pushed out singles "Psychotic Kids", "California" and "Medication". In July 2018, he released his debut album 21st Century Liability, which all three singles were included on, the album peaked on the ARIA Charts at #97. He then went on tour to support the album.
On 17 January 2019, he released the single "Loner", co-written by Harrison with Karl Michael, Mati Schwartz, and Robbie McDade. The music video was released to YouTube the same day.[2] He stated that the music video and song are a "hand-in-hand representation of where [he's] from". He also explained the artistic reasoning behind the music video: "I wanted to portray [that] I've gone across the world and met so many people and had so many experiences, but I want people to look at it and remember I'm just a 21-year-old young person from the north of England who's been put in a position by a fanbase and by people, and I'll never forget. Once I forget that, I'm in really dangerous territory. I needed that as a reminder almost to myself as well as my audience."[3] He released "11 Minutes" with Halsey featuring Travis Barker on 14 February 2019. It peaked at #1 on Billboard's "Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles", #2 on Belgium's "Ultratip Flanders", #5 on Billboard's "Hot Rock & Alternative Songs", #6 on New Zealand Hot Singles and #12 on Sweden's "Sverigetopplistan". This became the first time a YUNGBLUD song had ever charted high in the US. The song is about two high school lovers that split up because of what society taught them about love, years later they realise they still love each other and attempt to meet up but one gets killed in a car crash on the way.[4] For the first time, his exposure was boosted due to being associated with Halsey and Travis Barker. Harrison stated in an interview with Zach Sang that everything started getting bigger and noisier quickly after the song release, and he had to adapt to his new-found fame while refusing to change.[5]
He released his first live album YUNGBLUD (Live in Atlanta) on 22 March 2019, recorded from the Atlanta show of the 21st Century Liability Tour. In May, he launched Don't Wanna Be a Loner Tour associated with the single "Loner". The tour concluded with mostly festivals, ending 31 August 2019.[6]
the underrated youth (2019)[]
Cover art for "parents"
"Parents", originally titled "Parents Ain't Always Right",[7][8] was released 24 May 2019 and inspired by a trans girl he met in Bonner Springs, Kansas.[9] He described the song as "A tribute to individualism", stating "You are the best judge of how to become the best you. Don’t conform to the outside world's perception of who you should be if it means losing yourself in the process".[10] The premise of the song is to call out immoral and uncaring adult figures who manipulate and abuse the younger generation, all while claiming to know better and be morally superior. It does also communicate a hopeful message, though, in stating that by coming together and recognizing the faults in those with power over them, the younger generation will survive and be able to fight back.
Cover art for "I Think I'm OKAY"
Mid-2019, Machine Gun Kelly (Baker) was in the middle of making a song and decided he wanted a specific voice for the track, he thought of Harrison and asked him if he would be on the track—to his surprise. Harrison agreed and came to his house, he heard the song and freestyled his entire verse within less than 10 minutes, according to Baker.[11] Baker informed Harrison later that Travis Barker was laying down drums on the track—which was already familiar territory for him. "I Think I'm OKAY" was finalised and released 7 June 2019 as the first single from Baker's fourth studio album. The song also boosted his exposure. Baker and Harrison became close friends and promoted the song a lot. On the song, Harrison and Baker sing about the usage of substances to battle their personal demons. The song would later be certified Silver in the United Kingdom[12], Gold and then Platinum in the United States[13] and Platinum in Australia[14], as well as Gold in Canada.[15] The song charted at #3 on Billboard's "Hot Rock & Alternative Songs",[16] #4 on Billboard's "Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles",[17] #14 on New Zealand's "Hot Singles"[18] and #22 on Billboard's "Rock Airplay".[19] The music video was released 13 June 2019.[20]
The official cover for the Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw soundtrack
On 23 July 2019, he attended the premiere of Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw.[21] It was revealed that he had a song on the soundtrack, this was his first time attending a film premiere on the red carpet and having a song be on a big motion picture's soundtrack. Three days later, the soundtrack was released, the first song on the soundtrack is his cover of Jim Croce's "Time in a Bottle".[22] During the beginning of the song, the sound is sombre with Harrison's soft vocals backed up by the simple elegant sound of guitar strings, however 1 minute and 28 seconds into the song, the guitar strings halt to a stop and a rock sounding bass guitar comes in, and the song transforms into a rock ballad with Harrison shouting in the background, the rock slowly calms down and the percussion and bass comes in and makes it sounds like a jazzy rock infused love ballad.[22][23][24] The song is produced by long time production collaborators Zakk Cervini and Chris Greatti.
Cover art for "hope for the underrated youth"
Leading up to the release of "hope for the underrated youth", he announced on 25 July that he had a "surprise" in London on a boat on the River Thames, and linked fans to a website to sign up to be on it.[25] On 27 July, he got his fans on the boat, performed for them and then projected the words "There's Hope For the Underrated Youth" (stylised in upper case) onto the side of the Houses of Parliament, and due to the not-really-legal nature of the event, he later deleted a tweet about the plans he had. He later shared an image of the projection on his social media, however the image does not make it clear what building it is. He announced on 28 July 2019 that the song would premiere the next day, on BBC Radio 1 during Annie Mac's Future Sounds, as Annie Mac's Hottest Record in the World.[26][27] On 24 September 2019, the official music video, directed by Andrew Sandler, premiered on his YouTube channel.
On Twitter, he stated the song is about freedom and hope for the youth.[28] In a press statement, he said: "It’s the first song that’s not been about me and my own experiences, it is partly but it’s about the people I’ve met and the things I hear. Every day, like, you wake up in a world that tries to put you, in a lane, it kinda tells you what to think, how to dress, how to look, how to think. The common denominator in the peple (sic) I meet, especially young people, is the constant optimism and fire and sense of equality that we want to achieve in the world and in the future, you know, and that’s what this song is about. This song is for us, sinners. The people that look at us for wanting to blur the lines of old division. This song is about the future being bright because we’re in it."[29] In November, he stated in a game of Fan vs Artist with a fan named Luna that he wrote the song in Halloween 2018, however the video has since been made private for unknown reasons.[30][31]
Cover art for Die A Little
On 2 August 2019, iTunes revealed the soundtrack to the third season of 13 Reasons Why. YUNGBLUD's name appeared on the soundtrack while the title of his song was hidden under the placeholder "Track 2", iTunes revealed that the soundtrack was expected 23 August 2019.[32]
On 18 August 2019, YUNGBLUD announced through his social media that the song was called "Die A Little", he revealed the cover art for the single, separately to 13 Reasons Why and revealed three lines in the song.[33][34]
In an interview YUNGBLUD stated: "This song is kind of Nine Inch Nails inspired, a bit Marilyn Manson-esque. This song is about the dark part of your mind, the dark parts of your way of thinking that everyone has. That everyone doesn’t understand why they have it. It’s the knot in your stomach that you wake up and the sun’s shining, and you don’t know why it’s there. But when you figure out it is there, and when you figure out there’s other people that feel the same way with you, you learn to control it. And you learn to be alright and accept it.".[35]
On 30 October 2019, YUNGBLUD announced that a music video for Die A Little would be dropping on Halloween on his Twitter [36] and to his Instagram.[37] On the day of the release he tweeted out a clip of the music video with a link to the video from YouTube [38] He also stated, "realizing and accepting the dark part of your mind that is trying to get out", "People who don't understand what you are going through will try to interfere and generalize what you're feeling. That can end up with them getting as hurt as you. This video is a call out to take mental health seriously".[39]
Cover art for "original me"
"original me" featuring Dan Reynolds from Imagine Dragons, was announced by both artists on 4 October 2019, through their social media [40][41] and was released 9 October 2019.[42] The song is about acceptance, about being the 'original you' despite the insecurities. When Reynolds reached out to Harrison through a call about the collaboration, Harrison hung up on him, believing it as a prank call. However, Dan called him again and explained that it was actually him, and he explained the idea for a song and sent Harrison a rough demo for the song.[43] In an interview with ET Canada, Harrison revealed the song roughly took 5 hours to complete.[44] On 9 October 2019, Harrison announced via Twitter that a video for the song would be released.[45] The video premiered on YouTube 10 October 2019.[46] Harrison and Reynolds announced on 21 October 2019 that they would be performing "Original Me" on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.[47][48][49] They performed with aspects from the music video in their performance.[50]
The Underrated Youth EP was originally scheduled for release on 11 October 2019, however, Harrison pushed back the date, asking his fans for more time on the EP because an unspecified song was not right.[51] Much later, he confirmed the song to be "casual sabotage" while tattooing a fan.[52] The EP was then officially released 18 October 2019.[53]
Comic Book: The Twisted Tales of the Ritalin Club
Harrison had announced on 17 May 2019 he was releasing a comic book entitled "The Twisted Tales of the Ritalin Club"[54], which he had been working on for a year prior to the announcement.[source needed!] He partnered with Z2 Comics for the release of the comic book, the deluxe version was made available to purchase from their site only [55] and the regular version of the comic book was made available to purchase from Amazon [56] as well as other places afterwards. He attended MCM Comic Con on 25 October 2019, he did a Q&A with fans, talked about upcoming projects and signed copies of his graphic novel.[57][58][59]
Cover art for "Tongue Tied"
In an interview with Capital FM, blackbear revealed that he had a collaboration with Harrison and Marshmello.[60] The collaboration was revealed to be a song called "Tongue Tied" and was announced to be released 13 November.[61] "Tongue Tied" was released alongside the music video, starring Joey King, on YouTube.[62] "Tongue Tied" was released through Joytime Collective (Marshmello's label), Geffen Records and Interscope Records. Harrison was seemingly a new addition to the track as this collaboration was originally been only between Marshmello and Blackbear as it was first hinted in 2017. On 8 July 2017, Marshmello revealed for the first time their project when he posted on Twitter a photo of blackbear wearing his helmet.[63] On 22 July he revealed two other collaborations, being persistent about his collaboration with blackbear.[64] On 20 September 2017, he announced that the song was called "Paparazzi".[65] In January 2018, responding to a fan who questioned him about the song on Twitter, due to it being a over a year since anything was mentioned, Marshmello told the fan that the song was coming and to be patient.[66] Then, during an interview for Capital on 31 October 2019, Blackbear officially revealed the collaboration, with Harrison being the new addition.[60] The song peaked at #3 on Billboard's "Hot Rock & Alternative Songs".[67]
2020: weird!, digital tour, The YUNGBLUD Show, The YUNGBLUD Podcast[]
Official cover art for "weird!" as a single
On 2 December 2019, he shared on social media that he was going "a little mia" to work on his sophomore album.[68] On 3 December, Schwartz posted photos of himself and Harrison on his Instagram, with the caption stating that they were working on the second studio album in Spain.[69] The next day, he clarified that he wasn't taking time off, just taking time to finish the second album.[70] He then teased a poem—which turned out to be lyrics to "Weird!"—called "A Weird Time of Life" on 9 December.[71] On 4 March 2020, Harrison announced that he had cancelled his Asia tour due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[72] Coachella's organisers then announced that they postponed the music festival from April to October also due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[73] After his shows got cancelled, in 72 hours, he came up with The YUNGBLUD Show, so he could still give his fans a concert experience. Speaking to Vulture, he said "Having the opportunity to connect with them taken away from me wasn't gonna be an option. So I was like, "Let’s livestream a gig online".[74] Gavin Gottlich, his manager at the time, posted a screenshot of the Vulture article to his Instagram, stating in the caption that it started as Harrison telling him "let’s do a live stream concert from my iPhone" and "turned into a complete monster production", when The Beehive LA, a management and production company, came to help.[75]
During his second YUNGBLUD Show livestream, he announced that a single called "Weird!" would come out on 22 April, thinking that it could help fans cope with the COVID-19 pandemic.[76] Although he had previously teased it as "A Weird Time of Life",[77], he ultimately changed it before it's release. He tweeted out a link to pre-save the song, after the YUNGBLUD show ended.[78] On 22 April 2020, he released "weird!", which marked the start of a new era in his career. In a press release he stated "I wrote the song about the weirdest time in my life ever imagined. I felt like the ground beneath me was a maze that was shapeshifting and I felt like I was going to fall down the cracks and, in my opinion, the world feels exactly like that right now. I wanted this song to make everyone feel that everything was going to be alright no matter how weird things get.".[79] Speaking to NME he also said "I was going for an LCD Soundsystem and Depeche Mode thing. I wanted a naivety to the song because this is a coming of age record, the past 18 months were so weird for me."[80] Speaking to Clash Magazine, he stated "But...so much shit happened. Everything was weird. 'Weird, weird, weird...' kept going through my brain. I nearly lost my mum in a car accident; I was in a relationship and my heart broke. We got fucking really big really quickly. Suddenly you wake up one day, you go for a run, and there’s a fucking guy following you around with a fucking camera."[81]
Throughout the process of making the album, he would occasionally tweet out pieces of poems that seem to be lyrics to songs. In May 2020, during an NME Interview he was asked about the album and he told them: "The album is done and we’re going to start rolling it out. [Weird!] is the first chess move of that era. There’s a lot of diversity on [the album] – it’s like an episode of Skins in an album. Since the beginning of time, humans have been so complex and like 15 different personalities at once – but we’re the first generation to accept it and know that it’s alright to be who you are."[82] On 22 April, he shared the release of "Weird!" on Twitter, welcoming his fans to the new era.[83]
Without announcing that a music video was coming, a week later he shared the release of the music video on Twitter.[84] Later on he did a bunch of interviews to promote the song and said that he wrote the song after performing at Brixton Academy (21 November 2019). He stated that things were happening to him that had consumed him and made him depressed simultaneously while things were going great for him as he was getting bigger as an artist. Speaking to NME, he stated: "The past 18 months were so weird for me, I nearly lost my Mum in a car accident. I was in a relationship and got my heart broken. We blew up and got famous really quickly. I suffered from depression and thought about suicide again. It felt like I was walking down the pavement but I felt like I was going to fall down the cracks. It’s just been a dark, twisted, mental time. I thought that it was going to swallow me whole and I’d never be seen again – but I came out the other side of it."[82]
Official cover art for "strawberry lipstick"
On 6 July 2020—the two year anniversary of 21st Century Liability being released—fans were walking around their respective cities and found a poster to do with the new era.[85][86][87][88][89] The posters depicted Harrison in true 70's punk style; outfit and hairstyle wise. The words "Suck On My Strawberry Lipstick" were written in pink in capital letters. Harrison himself had not announced or talked about the existence of the posters before-hand so fans were surprised and confused about them. Hours later, he took to his Instagram to share a video of him burning the strait jacket from the album cover for 21st Century Liability.[90][91][92] In the video he was dressed in a similar style to the poster wearing the british flag to replace the costume; keeping the hairstyle.

Official cover art for single "mars" and the sophomore album
On 25 November 2020, YUNGBLUD announced the fourth single, "mars". The song was inspired by a transgender girl's story, she met YUNGBLUD on the 2018 Vans Warped Tour and told him that her parents weren't accepting of her gender, but with the impact and support of the community, her parents started to accept her as their daughter. One day after the album release, Harrison told a fan that "mars" took the longest to write.[117] In an interview at Paaspop [118] YUNGBLUD was asked what his favorite fan moment was, he answered: "I remember on Vans Warped Tour, it was kinda crazy, I remember this one girl came up to me and she said that she had sex change, she was formerly a boy and that my music helped her get through that and feel that her identity—it was okay to be herself. And that was fucking crazy for me, and I can tell you that there’s a song on the new album, about her, and how inspiring it was to kind of help someone like that, it’s fucking crazy that our community helped someone feel like they could be themselves and take a huge step and achieve their goal of wanting to be themself." The release date and music video were announced through social media on 25 November 2020, just two days prior to its release, on his social media.[119]
